Fatih

I  am trying to earn my Young Woman recognition award while I am the young women's president.  Many of the requirements are to record things in my journal.  I want to record it here so that my children will have it for years to come.

Faith 1- Prayer has helped me strengthen my faith.  When I pray sincerely I feel the presence of my Heavenly Father.  The other day I felt like I was carrying a lot of burdens.  I knelt down to pray and poured out my soul to him.  I know he listened to that prayer.  I felt his love for me and for those I was praying for.  It was a beautiful experience.

Faith 2- I need to be the kind of mother that the stripping warriors had.  I need to have the type of testimony that they can lean on when they are weak.  That they can know because I know.  That they will want to find out for themselves because of my example.  This is no small task.  One of my favorite quotes is by Harold B. Lee about how hard a testimony is to hold on to.  That it is something I need to strengthen EVERY day of my life.  That is my challenge- to constantly be moving  forward, not backward.  It is so easy to move backward.

Faith 3- Living gospel principles requires Fatih.  Gordon spoke last week at church about how the Jews put the commandments into 3 categories.  1- commandments that are easy to see why we keep them.  Like killing, stealing.  We see the negative effects immediately.  2- Commandments that draw us closer to God.  Like baptism. 3- Commandments that we don't understand why we are asked to live them.  These require Faith.  I must put my understanding aside and trust that God knows everything.  He is the ruler of the Universe and He knows what is best.  That is Faith.  Sometimes I find myself complaining about the lot I have been given.  But really what I should be asking is "God knows everything and wants to help me.  I need to trust in God that this is what is best right now."
