This past week has been spring break. We left for Hurricane Saturday afternoon and got there in time for dinner. Nanna and Grandpa's house is really beautiful! It can sleep over 20. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs and a game room. On the main floor is the master bedroom, formal living room, kitchen/dining/ family room and a theater room. The back yard has a brand new pool- that was a blast!
Sunday was filled with General Conference. It went well for being all together. I feel I just didn't get as much as I usually do out of this past conference. Saturday we listened to it and Sunday was in Hurricane. Honestly I feel a little frustrated about it. I wonder- am I not as spiritually in tune as I need to be? Were the talks just not given in a way that I could relate to (probably not), Is it because the house takes up so much of my energy and thought that I am not as receptive to the Holy Ghost (unfortunately this is probably a contributing factor.). Anyways, I am excited to listen to them and get to know them well. I like to listen to them when I fold the clothes. Sunday afternoon we drove into Saint George and hiked in the park up on the hill by the DIXIE painted on the mountain.
Monday morning we got Matthew, Isaac, Jacob, Adaline, and Adam Bush, and Rob up early and hiked angels Landing. It was Rob, Dad and My first time up (along with some of the other kids). Isaac nearly didn't make it. We got to the saddle and refused to go on (up the scary part). But dad talked him in to it and he did fine. I really like when we push the kids just a little bit out of their comfort zone- there is so much growth that comes from that. The rest of the group (Jim's family, Grandpa and Nana, and Katie's other kids) brought lunch and we had a picnic in the park. Then we drove through to the other side and did another small hike then headed back to Hurricane to swim, have dinner and play.
Tuesday we hiked the first part of the subway (we didn't go into the subway). It was flat and we had a lot of kids with us so it was a good hike to do. Then we had lunch, tried to talk the kids into another hike but ended up driving home for them to swim. I really enjoyed sitting by the pool talking to Ali. Jim and Ali have such a nice family. Rob and Janelle were there but we didn't see them much. Janelle had to work and Rob kept busy. Grandpa's knee was so bad he mostly just watched TV. Tuesday night the adults went out to dinner. That was nice to get away and talk with Rob and Janelle. The we got the kids and went back into Saint George and got ice cream. Rob wanted the adults to watch the new Star wars movie together so we all stayed up and watched it together.
Wednesday was a nice day. We just got up, cleaned up, and the kids swam for hours, then we drove home. On the way home we stopped in Fillmore and I saw my cousin and the home she restored there. We also got dinner in fillmore. When we came home there was a bustle of activity going on here.
Thursday dad and Matthew hiked and the other kids rotted out their brains on electronics. The cousins came over and did sleepovers. I had errands to do with the remodel.
Friday dad took all the kids up the canyon to bike. I had to stay to answer questions about the remodel. How high does this shelf go? How do you want this to look like? etc. Friday night dad and I did get out to…buy stuff for the remodel. (our lives are so exciting) I am really looking forward to it being done. The end is in sight (I hope).
Saturday I went up and picked out counter tops for the kitchen. Then dad, Matthew and I went to the adult session of General Conference. After, Adaline and I made a dash over to the Provo temple to do baptisms but the baptistry closed at 8 so she and I went and go a treat. She is such a good kind person!
